We’re going into a different direction this week. Meet Nekro. He calls himself a digital alchemist and hails from Spain. A digital artist with a unique eye and style, Nekro’s creations stand out for their desaturated color compositions and baroque designs.
It comes as no surprise after viewing his art to learn that his work is popular with big names in the entertainment industry, including notable publishers like Tor, Simon & Schuster, Penguin Books, and Harper Collins. Nekro’s work also appeared in Heavy Metal Magazine and ImagineFX and a host of other publications and is even used by gaming companies like Applibot and others. He is the author of 13 inches, published by Norma editorial in 2009.
Below is a small sampling of his work. Enjoy!
Remember when I said I prefer original art for a book cover, that I’d rather use an illustration than a photoshopped stock image? My position still holds true, except when it comes to Nekro’s work. He is the exception to the rule. Nekro can turn a photograph into an art piece so convincingly, your eyes tell you you’re looking at a purely original illustration. That is why I’m showcasing his work this week. One of his designs caught my attention and I mistook it for a painting. You can see more of his work here.
And that is all from me this week, folks. I hope your week is treating you kindly.
Cheers!
Woelf
